Return My Life

Struggling with sharp twisting pains

That causes disability,

Exhausted body, weakened strength

That aid loss of ability.

Cautiously planning each day

With my body to agree,

Nothing like my life used to be.

Dreams stripped from out of grasp

By myself without permission,

Normality flipped upside down

By myself without submission.

Unappreciative of my time before

But now I can clearly see,

How great my life used to be

Unaware of deep locked emotions

Until I reminisce back,

Forgetting what it once was like

Until pangs of guilt attack.

Clouds and darkness fog over

Obstructing me to be free,

To live like my life used to be.

Restrictions and alterations appear

Whilst I’m forced to accept,

A full thriving life slowly passing

Whilst I silently slept.

Wanting and needing better than this

I recite my plea,

Please return to how my life used to be.
